"We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right." -Nelson Mandela

Sebastian tore through the streets, running toward the funeral home he needed to get to, his partner Tory was not around yet. They were in North Miami, the date was March 31st 2012, only about a decade from their time period. Sebastian hurried across the streets, wondering if that new recruit would ever make an appearance in time. He was on North East 143rd street, and running as fast as his feet can carry him.Tory came on a bike, smiling at him. "Hop on." She told Sebastian. "Why the hell doesn't time travel allow us to bring vehicles?!" Sebastian yelled in disdain before getting on pegs that were on the back tires. He had trouble gaining balance at first, but once he got it Tory sped down the street sidewalk. "You weren't in your car?" She asked. "No, I was on a nice walk it seemed like, until I activated." Sebastian answers while he looked over her shoulder.

Her brown hair was blowing in his face. Although it was slightly comfortable, he also found it annoying. Tory looked back at him with her green eyes shining brightly. "Sorry about the hair! I usually don't keep it this long, this must've been a time when I refused to cut the damn stuff!" She yelled over the wind after focusing back on the street. "I don't mind, usually...right now is a rare exception." Sebastian said into her ear, she laughed. Tory looked about sixteen years old now, it must've looked odd with a thirty year old riding behind her.

They approached the corner of a major street called Dixie Highway. To their horror, they saw no mass of people waiting by the funeral home of  Funeraria Latina Emanuel, where a shooting was supposed to occur, killing over fourteen people. Sebastian cursed hard. "I thought this was the place?! Don't tell me we got the wrong damned address! That would be complete and utter bullshit!" Sebastian yelled in a panic. "I'm getting a whisper." Tory told him, and he hushed while Tory put her hands over her ears. She was one of the few Sleepers that could hear whispers from their time period, which is exactly why she was his partner; despite the lack of experience. Tory was one of the few Sleepers, also, that came natural. She needed no machine, like Sebastian, to go into past timelines. All she needed was a glass of milk and a nice book, which pissed Sebastian off; for he had to train for an entire five years to use the damned Time Trance machine, let alone get sent on missions.

Tory's eyes shot open. "Damn it! There is another one down this highway with the same exact name, looks like we did get the wrong address." Tory says over her shoulder before launching her bike into action. Sebastian held on to her waste tight, knowing that if he didn't he would likely fall off. "The shooting is about to happen, we need to do something stupid and reckless. We don't have time for the planned execution now." Tory told Sebastian. "I know." He answered back while taking out a throwing knife from his boot. "I already have a few back up plans, none are really too smart though." Sebastian offers while getting the knife into a proper position to throw. She smiled at the glint from the knife. "Whatever involves a knife taking down a car with someone shooting an automatic rifle at a crowd of people has my attention." Tory says to him. Sebastian smiles back at her, "You're going to get a real kick out of this then." He says before explaining the plan to her.

Her smile widened with each passing word. "Oh my lord, you devious son of a bitch." She responded while making an illegal turn to the opposite side of the street. Cars panicked and swerved around them. "You think it will work?" Sebastian asks. "Nope, but if we do make it work, it is going to be fucking awesome." Tory says while going on to the sidewalk. "Here we go, it's right up ahead, and we couldn't be more on time to our own funeral." Tory says while smiling menacingly. Tory swerved into the parking lot of the funeral home and flowed through the crowd of people as they moved a bit out of the way. Suddenly they spotted the car, a white Pontiac that was starting to pass by.

"Here goes nothing!" Sebastian yells out as he aims the knife. The man in the Pontiac got out an assault rifle and aimed it at the gathered crowd. Sebastian let loose the knife as the assailant fired his weapon. A bullet hit Tory's shoulder and she lost control of the bike. They both skid on the ground and fell as more bullets flew over them at the crowd. Sebastian cursed to himself as pain took hold of him. Gunfire drowned out anything Tory was screaming at him, but he knew the gist of it as he saw the assailant flea the premises. "Did I get him?" Sebastian asked as he struggled to get himself off the ground. "I don't know, but we need to get out of here before any police or reporters show up. Isn't that how this all works?" Tory says as she tries to cover her bullet wound. Sebastian winced at it. "That looks bad, we better get out of here before you lose too much blood." Tory nodded, knowing the common procedures. This was their forth mission together, and he is more than a little shocked at how good she has been doing.

"I don't think that guy is getting his bike back." Tory said with a slight laugh as they started to run away from the scene of the tragedy. "You stole it?" Sebastian asks, already knowing the answer. "Yeah, it was a bit short notice, but we wouldn't have made it without it. Plus I am sure he won't be too pissed off, he was my boyfriend around this time." Tory responded as her vision started to blur. Her breathing became more labored and her movements were sluggish. Sebastian put her arm around his shoulders and neck to help her walk. He saw another gun shot not too deep into her leg. "You are going to make it." Sebastian tells her while looking at her with his crystal blue eyes. Tory looked at his hardened features with a new light, and saw a softer interior that he never really showed to many people. Sebastian was still a mystery to her, but it didn't stop her from appreciating all the help he has given her.

Sebastian half carried Tory into someone's backyard, where he sat her down on a bench. Sebastian brushed the sweat from his brow, his short hair letting a few droplets fall. "Alright, now we need to get relaxed, luckily I am used to carrying three lemon balm inhalers.." Sebastian says before getting her lemon balm out. She was getting pale pretty fast. Lemon Balm was the agent they used to get mellow faster for they can return to their time from the past.  They always took it as an inhaler, and used their technology from the future to make it fast acting. Sebastian took Tory's inhaler and put it in her mouth. She sucked in her breath after putting her mouth on the nozzle, and then started to go into a slumber. The special mixture they had was a dose of Lemon Balm extract as well as a heavy sleeping agent. She knocked out fast, and he could see the sort of lifelessness coming from her. The life came back fast, but she didn't wake up thanks to the agent. Now Sebastian needed to get her to a hospital, so she could survive long enough to get to their future.

He looked at her one more time before heading to the front of the house with her body more limp than before. Sebastian knocked on the door frantically and put on a worried face to make the scene more realistic. A burly man opened the door, looking more pissed off than anything. "What do you-" He started towards Sebastian until he glanced at Tory. "Is she okay?" "No, she was shot by someone in a white Pontiac. I don't have a car, and I couldn't help but notice you were in possession of a truck and an Ford Probe. I would like to either use one of these to get her to a hospital, or for you to take her." Sebastian explained while his sweat began to cloud his vision a bit. He was out of shape around this time, he noticed. The man examined her a little too carefully and nodded. "I will take her, you can sit back." The man said to Sebastian. Sebastian grinned slightly, "I'm going with you, actually." He told him, but the man didn't seem to mind too much. "That's fine, get in the truck, it's faster." Sebastian put Tory in the back seat and jumped in the passenger seat. "Thanks, I appreciate this."

Once they got to the hospital, and Tory was sent into emergency care, Sebastian tried to remember her parent's phone numbers. He took out his cell phone and found their numbers there. He forgot that he had their numbers from his last mission together. That was a time period where she was twelve, in Vegas, where they had to stop a drug dealing from shooting up the entire block. Before they changed the timeline, there were about twenty five deaths, only eight of them were gang members. They managed to lower that number to six dead, all gang members. The reason he had to call her parents that time was because they were stuck in the desert. Needless to say, after that and the shooting they were just in, it was about the time where her parents started hating him.

After the nurse behind the counter confirmed that Tory was going to be alright, he sat down in the waiting room. Sebastian got out his Lemon Balm inhaler, he could smell the fresh scent emanating from it. He put his mouth to the nozzle and took a nice whiff, the effects came after a few seconds. He felt his pulse slow significantly, and his mind cleared. He smiled at the sensation, oh how he loved this rather than the injection of adenosine that was required for future travel. The effects of the chemicals took full effect as he went into a deep sleep. His mind detached from his body as he went from March 31st 2012, and was reestablished in April 23rd 2023 as he returned to the Sleeper Project Headquarters.

*EDIT: I messed up the time travel thing, it was supposed to be Lemon Balm for returning to the present day, not Adenosine...my bad. XD

The Sleeper Project is an organization that dedicates itself in the affairs of time travel. Operatives are sent back and forward in time to deal with tragic moments of time, and simply make them less tragic. They are not allowed to extremely alter the past, and many restrictions follow this time travel, but they only wish to save more lives. At least, that is what is assumed by all that know of this Organization's existance. There is a dark side to this organization, and only time will tell who is friend and who is foe.

I bet you guys are wondering, what the hell is this? I never once talked about making this, nor did I even hint at it's existence. Which is true, usually I hint or say what I am about to write, but here is something extremely unique. It rooted off an idea that was made literally yesterday, my friend Adrian wanted me to work on this some time. I was so interested in the idea I started immediately. So this is a time travel story that I will be working on, pretty unique and cool. I will put the first chapter on Deviant Art too, but all other content will stay on Figment because it is much easier to manage on that site. I hope anyone who reads this thought it was a good read, more will come in time.
